The Complex/city - No.251 - No.500

The title which I created from the word "Complexity" + "City" since January 2013. I found "landscape" or "cityscape" isn’t suitable enough to describe the photos, which I wanted to show the complexity of the city besides my regular landscape photography. By using both words "complexity" "city" will sound too clumsy, so I combined it into Complex/city.

The photography shows the complexity environment, atmosphere, and the look of my home city, Hong Kong. Inside the photos, you can see the unbalance between old and new architecture, uncoordinated structure of urban or city planning and the cramped atmosphere under multi-concrete from different times and ages. Later on, this series has been developed to other cities, such as Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, London & Milan.

Construction/Destruction - No.251 - No.500

The series to show the over-developed city mainly in Hong Kong and other cities around the world. All the "Construction" works inside the city 24-7 is actually leading to the "Destruction" of the original, authentic looks of the city itself. So is it really a "Construction" to build a better city or is it ”Destruction" to the city we known?

Public Housing in Metropolis

Hong Kong is one of the cities with highest density and most expensive living space in the world, besides New York, London and Tokyo. Besides my other cityscape photography series, this series is focused on the living space of Hong Kong. I started the series with the public housing, which built and provided by the government. Public housing supposed to be higher density between another buildings; also smaller space within one apartment than private housing, but the fact is not. Private housing is getting higher and higher building density, at the same time the market price is getting higher. Turns out the market leads to the citizen to spend more money on smaller living space (e.g. 1sq. feet costs HK$10000+).

Inside this series, you can see the living environment is intensive, you can’t see any space between each other. People spent millions of dollars for such a high-density area to live in, can’t imagine how the pressure the people would be?

Wandering in the Metropolis

Have you ever feel lost wandering inside a metropolis? No matter you’re visiting a new city, or even worse, you lived within the same city for a long period of time. The moment when you suddenly fade out, and the next second you have no idea why or when you’re here, or even don’t know where you are?
